January - 2010 The Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston will launch a newly created course in the Spring of 2010 that will give students a hands-on perspective of the natural gas industry and the design and operation of energy trading and risk management systems that support natural gas trading. DMS is contributing not only to the creation of the curriculum and its teaching but is also donating GasPro gas management licenses for use by students in school’s state of the art energy trading center. Students will be taught the fundamentals of the natural gas energy in preparation for instruction on energy trading data sources, how energy market data is analyzed, how trading strategies are formulated and how trade transactions are processed. The course will also cover technology’s role in enhancing trading activities, assuring accuracy, maintaining regulatory compliance and offering significant operational efficiencies and benefits. “We are excited about joining forces with University of Houston and creating a teaching environment so that students will be a greater asset to their future employers from day one,” states DMS President and CEO – Mr. Frank Pena. “It’s critical that students grasp the fundamental elements that make up our natural gas industry. Once they see the gas business from this perspective, then everything else falls into place, including the role of technology and gas management systems.”Joining DMS in the course collaboration are CommodityPoint, ZE Power Group and University of Houston alumni and energy consultant, Mr. Ed Bell. The course launches January 23, 2010 and is part of the Decision and Information Sciences Department at the Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston.
