We were recently able to sit down and discuss some recent developments in our company with the founder and CEO of DMS, Frank Peña, with the focus of our discussion primarily exploring his work alongside co-creator and teaching partner Ed Bell in putting together a Gas Industry Class at the University of Houston. Their work was recently highlighted in an article for the Energy Metro Desk.

In the past several months DMS has not only continued its commitment to the higher education of those entering the energy sector, but has increased its contribution, with more and more DMS employees becoming involved with the program. The class—which has seen an enormous amount of success since its inception in the spring of 2010, with enrollment topping well over a hundred students in the most recent semester—primarily focuses on giving the students hands-on information and the opportunity to work with the actual programs used within the gas industry. It is the only class of its kind, and down the road Frank hopes to add supplementary classes to the current one. Frank explained that it was his vision early on in his career to create a class applicable to the various fields in the gas industry by “focusing on what the industry truly needed—new recruits who could be an asset from day one.” As evidenced by the success of the class, that vision is quickly becoming a reality.
